Kalpakka region

The area around the leisure centre offers many opportunities for year-round outdoor activities. The Pururata track is accessible from behind Rysä and there is also a ski stadium and a frisbee golf course.

In winter, the Pururata is transformed into a high-quality, illuminated ski trail network. There you can ski trails that are one to three kilometers long. The Pururata runs start either from the ski stadium (Onnentie 1 behind the Leisure Centre) or along the run (Kränintie). The maintenance of the ski trails is the responsibility of Merikarvian Into ry. In winter, the ski stadium has a sledding hill and a hut with trees ready. The frisbee golf course starts from the Rysä Leisure Centre (Onnentie 1) and goes around the forest track. There is also a new fitness center in the Kalpakka area.

School center area

The athletics field and football field are located in the city center near the school center (intersection of Eteläinen rantatie and Satamatie).
Right next to the school is an artificial turf area for local sports. Next to it are a tennis court, a parkour track for children and young people, an outdoor exercise platform for bodyweight training, and a playground with swings for primary school children in the school break area. The local sports areas of the school centre are safely fenced, so the whole family can move around safely on each platform. MerikarviaOn the other side of the school center, outside the fenced area, is a multi-purpose arena.

Athletics venues:
  • 350-meter running track made of red gravel
  • durable paved high jump, javelin and two long jump venues
  • shot put
  • hammer and discus ring with protective net

The sand-filled artificial turf has baseball and soccer field lines for small and large fields.
The artificial turf tennis court has a fenced-in area.
The Parkour course is suitable for exercise and competition for children and young people.
The outdoor fitness rack is suitable for people of all ages.
The bodyweight training rack has instructions on how to start training.

Merrycamping

MerikarviaThe municipality maintains various sports facilities at Merrycamping (Palosaarentie 67) for the use of residents and tourists. You can enjoy the summer on the beach. You can play beach volleyball on the field while enjoying the scent of the sea. In winter, open-air swimming is organized in the Merrycamping sauna.
