Early childhood education and preschool education

MerikarviaThe municipality offers flexible early childhood education services, both full-time and part-time. Early childhood education and preschool education are organized at Norkool kindergarten.

The application must be submitted no later than four months before the desired start date. It is advisable to submit an application even if the exact start date is not yet clear. If the need is not foreseeable (employment/study), the application must be submitted no later than two weeks before the need for early childhood education begins.

The child participates in preschool education in the year before the start of compulsory education. Preschool education lasts for one year (August-May) and is organized for 4 hours a day. In addition to preschool education, you can apply for supplementary early childhood education.

The early childhood education place remains in place until the end of July before the start of school; after that, the child will not be offered early childhood education services.

Early childhood education is also provided as shift care according to the needs of parents due to their work/study.

There is no application period for early childhood education, you can apply all year round.

Applications for preschool education take place in February-April and will be announced separately. Applications are made through the Edlevo system. A preschooler can apply for free transportation if the preschool trip from home to the kindergarten is more than 3 kilometers.
