More from the history board
As a tradition in the family and from those who passed through the village Merikarvian A history window was sketched out of the stories related to the history of Alakylä and Kuninkaanmäki between the barns of Kuninkaanmäki, and at the same time, plans were started to build a permanent history board to commemorate the past at the site. The ceremonial opening of the village board was held in 2017. At that time, the visit of King Gustav II Adolf of Sweden in 1614 was relived. The village board was realized together with Alakylä Aktiivien and Merikarvia-society hardworking volunteers.
The history board has three exhibition items: 1. An enlarged copy of a naive landscape drawing of Alakylä, the former village of Alakarvia, which depicts the situation and buildings of the village at the beginning of the 1900th century. The picture shows which buildings are currently missing from the landscape and where the road now runs. The buildings in the picture are numbered and named.
2. The Perimätietoikkuna collected information that has been passed down as folklore about events that have taken place on Kuninkaanmäki over the centuries and how Kuninkaanmäki got its name.
3. The third window was named a temporary exhibition. It allows you to get acquainted with newspaper news from about a hundred years ago about Alakylä and Merikarvialta. During Independence Day and Christmas, the history news window has its own theme.
There is a guest book on the history board, in which visitors are asked to write about their visit.
• Welcome to the Alakylä history board to experience what the past speaks to us!

Village history
Officially, there is no village called Kuvaskangas. The village settlement was formed at the intersection of roads branching east and west along Route 8. Kuvaskangas is located on a longitudinal ridge formed during the melting of the ice age. The ridge has been inhabited since the Stone Age, as Stone Age axes have been found in the fields of the village. According to history, Kuvaskangas was the first land area to emerge from under the sea after the ice age. The ridge is MerikarviaThe highest point in the country. It is located 67 meters above sea level. According to the story, Kuvaskangas got its name because it was the first to be reflected as a landmark for approaching ships. Gravel was transported from Harju, along Lauttijärventie, to build Highway 8, and the resulting pit became a deer pit. A glass factory operated on the site of the former school until the late 1800th century.

In Kasala, even bread turns into bröö
The next village north of Kasala is already a bilingual area. There is a strong volunteer spirit in Riispyy, and this is also evident in the fact that the cooperative and the cottage residents renovated the shared pier area together. In addition to boat storage, the renovated shore has been harnessed for diverse recreational use. The swimming area has been deepened by dredging, the parking area has been expanded, and the trees have been cleared. It is convenient to paddle and fish from the pier.
Village history
Riispyy was also an industrial area in the 1800th century, with a sawmill operating there. An information board will be erected to tell the history of Riispyynlahti, and a route map will be prepared for those navigating the rocky waters.

The village of Tuorila offers comfortable living, good transport connections, industry and business.
There is industry and stone fences in Tuorila
MerikarviaThe municipality of Tuorila has focused particularly on industrial plots, which have been zoned on both sides of Kasitie. Repolantie is an industrial road and the plots along it are equipped with municipal technology (electricity, water, sewage). There is a lighted road and light traffic route from Tuorila to the municipality centre, eight kilometres.
STONE FENCE TOUR is a nature trail that circles the Prasunkytö field. Starting point is behind Koivuniemen Herran (formerly Merikievari). The route circles the field for almost two kilometers. There are green marks on the trees in the terrain. Bollards have been built in the swampier part. The stone fence represents a more recent and visible stone history. The width of the fence at the top is over three meters and the height is about one and a half meters. The longest such straight fence section is 700 meters long. MerikarviaThe terrain is rocky and clearing the field has required several generations of twisting up the rocks. An extensive stone cairn burial area is evidence of Tuorila's Bronze Age settlement.
