Municipal management

Municipal management is the implementation of the municipality's basic tasks, taking responsibility for the well-being of the municipality's residents, the municipality's vitality and sustainable development. Trustees and professional management create Merikarviathe future together with the residents.

The municipal leadership team assists the municipal mayor in his management work. It develops and coordinates the preparation, development, communication and collaboration taking place in different parts of the municipal organization.

The management team prepares matters concerning the entire municipality for decision-making and ensures internal communication and cooperation. It promotes development in various sectors and coordinates the municipality's activities to promote the well-being of its residents.

The management team meets as needed, every five years or sometimes less frequently. Financial matters are regularly discussed at the meetings. Personnel matters, municipal services, monitoring and forecasting of the operating environment are also often on the management team's agenda. In addition to current themes, the management team discusses business matters, well-being, ownership steering, organizational development and cooperation with neighboring municipalities. Municipal Manager

The mayor leads the administration, finances and other activities of the municipality under the authority of the municipal government. The annual priorities and objectives of the work are derived from the municipal strategy and budget policies, as well as current prospects for the municipal sector. The reform goals set in the government programme also affect the mayor's work during the planning period.

Municipal executive team consists of the following persons: Mayor Juha Vasama, Finance Manager Terhi Mattila, Welfare Manager Eetu Aaltonen, Education Director Tommi Aalto, Administrative Services Manager Anni Ojamo, Deputy Service Manager Kaisu Lindholm-Lepistö and Deputy Municipal Engineer Timo Johansson.
