Improving the hygiene level of the Krookka fishing port
Project number: 290518
Project period: 5.4.2024-31.5.2026
Measures:
Fisheries development and investments and environmental measures
Project description:
The project will create a bird-proof space in the immediate vicinity of the pier area for the proper storage of fish tanks. A refrigerated container used during the high season will also be placed in the same space. As the weighing requirements for fisheries control become stricter, a verifiable scale will be purchased for the port.
A protected space in the pier area will be designed and built. It will be possible to place and store fish tanks there. This will achieve the central starting point of the project, which is to improve hygiene levels.
The fish are brought to the edge of the pier by ship, from where they are sucked into the herring sorting machine. From there, the fish are sorted into tanks where they can be stored and transported. The above-mentioned process can be carried out in a protected space. During work, the lifting door of the hall is open, but afterwards it can be lowered. This allows for a clear improvement in hygiene levels. In addition to the building, the project funds will be used to purchase a scale that will exceed the quality level as the weighing requirements for fisheries control become stricter. In addition, the refrigerated container can be moved to a protected space.
