Middle school presentation

Our school is the only one Merikarvian municipal basic education school for grades 7–9. The school center also operates a primary school and Merikarvian high school. The above-mentioned educational institutions have several teachers in common, even to the point where the same teacher works in all three schools. This makes the cooperation close and efficient.

Sponsors

Numerous services and partners are right next door. These include the municipal library and cultural services, several museums, a fire station, two sports fields and an ice rink. A stone's throw away is the versatile leisure centre Rysä, which offers excellent conditions for organising graduation ceremonies, other events and sports classes. There is a floodlit snowshoe trail near Rysä for practicing winter sports. The nearby forests offer good orienteering opportunities.

School work focus areas

At school, we strive to ensure that students can attend school in peace, safety and with sufficient support, so that they have good conditions for further studies after grade 9. In grades 7–9, we emphasize the mother tongue and literature, Finnish culture, entrepreneurship and internationality, and taking into account the individual needs of the student. The emphasis on the Bothnian Sea as an umbrella theme is reflected, for example, in the selection of annual multidisciplinary learning modules through the preservation of local cultural heritage.
