High school group guidance

The goal of group guidance is to familiarize students with upper secondary school studies, monitor and support the student's progress during their studies, and inform them about current issues related to school operations.

A group guidance hour or quarter is organized in each semester. During the hour, each student's course choices for the upcoming semester are reviewed and a class schedule is drawn up. During the group guidance hour, students have the opportunity to give feedback on the completed semester and ask questions about the upcoming semester. School transportation issues are also handled with the assistance of the group guidance counselor.

The group tutor monitors the student's academic progress and advises on study-related problems. The group tutor collaborates with the study counselor, subject teachers, and special education teacher. He or she also acts as a link between home and school.

The steering groups are determined by the starting year of upper secondary school.
