The Finnish ensemble Tango del norte is a diamond tango ensemble that has won awards in international competitions, and its journey began in 2011 with the music of Astor Piazzolla. For a decade, the band's players have sought tango lessons from Argentina's best musicians. The result is a refined sound that elicits admiration and praise from the audience from concert to concert.

Tango del norte has played over 300 concerts around Finland, and has also performed at tango festivals in Spain, Poland and Sweden. In 2021, Tango del norte received 2nd prize in the international “Astor Piazzolla – Città di Trani 100” competition in Italy, organized in honor of Astor Piazzolla’s 2021th anniversary. In 2018, the bandoneonist Sami Pirttilahti won the international “Che Bandoneon” competition in the United States.

Over the years, Tango del norte has worked with many top Finnish and international tango musicians and singers. In 2016, Tango del norte released the CD “Raíces de pasión” with Argentinian singer Romina Bianco, and in 2018, the duo album “Solos & Duos” was released, which received good reviews. This 2025 tour will see the release of the band’s third album “Argentiniinalaisittain”.

The concert is an uninterruptible, approximately one-hour event built around Argentine tango music. The program includes music by Astor Piazzolla as well as more traditional Argentine and Finnish tango music and South American folk music.
