Criteria for awarding grants
The primary criteria for granting a grant are the public benefit, scope, impact of the activity to be granted, and the applicant's need for the grant. Grants are not granted for purely political or religious activities. When considering grant applications, preference is given to activities that reduce the need for services produced by the municipality itself and thus reduce the municipality's costs.
The criteria also affect the size of the grant. In addition to and instead of granting a financial grant, services can also be purchased from a community or organization on a case-by-case basis.
Deciding on grants
The council allocates a grant allocation to each service area in the budget.
The boards decide annually on the distribution of grants related to their field of activity within the limits of the allocated budget.
The municipal government only processes grant applications that fall within its own area of responsibility. In cases of doubt, the mayor decides on the jurisdiction between the board and the municipal government.
