Financial statement process framework in the calendar

1. The financial year ends at the end of the calendar year on 31 December.

2. The accounting is closed in January, the final vouchers and postings are recorded.

3. Preparation of the financial statements begins: the financial statements are discussed and approved by the municipal government by March 31 (three months after the end of the financial year). Financial statements documents, such as the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement, balance sheet items and notes are prepared.

4. Audit of Financial Statements: An internal and external audit will take place in April and May, where the financial statements will be reviewed and verified.

5. The financial statements will be approved at the final reading and approval of the June municipal council.

6. The financial statements are presented and published by 30 June (six months after the end of the financial year).

7. Discharge will be granted at the June council meeting

8. Monitoring and evaluation will be carried out from July onwards – planning for the next budget has already begun.

Financial statement 2025

The municipal financial statements include the balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement and the information attached to them, as well as a comparison of budget implementation and an annual report.

The financial statements also include consolidated financial statements. The municipality's financial year is the calendar year. The municipal board reviews the financial statements by the end of March and the council reviews the financial statements by the end of June.
