New Import and Export – Circular Economy Container Opens at Tiiliruukki Sorting Station

The collection promotes a circular economy and reduces the amount of waste by offering new opportunities for the reuse of goods. Circular economy means extending the life cycle of products and materials so that raw materials remain in use for as long as possible. This goal is concretely supported by the opening of the Tiiliruukki sorting station Import and Export Circular Economy Container. You can bring in good condition, usable goods into the container, which can find a new owner instead of ending up as waste.

“Residents have been hoping for a place where usable goods could be put back into circulation with a low threshold. The waste load may still contain completely intact and usable goods. Now we have a channel to get goods that are lying around at home to a new home,” says Maija Nuotio, circular economy planner at Keräämö. Similar Bring and Take services are available elsewhere in Finland and in the Keräämö area at recycling centres in Kokemäki, Harjavalta and Nakkila.

You can bring the following into a circular economy container:

  • hobby and fitness equipment
  • toys and children's goods
  • pet supplies
  • interior decoration items
  • tool maker
  • garden products
  • small furniture
  • dishes

You may not bring anything into a circular economy container.

  • electrical appliances (their safety cannot be guaranteed for the next user)
  • textiles, clothing
  • moldy, broken or poor-quality goods
  • large or upholstered furniture
  • garbage bags and sacks
  • books and magazines

Circular economy containers operate as self-service at the Tiiliruukki sorting station from Monday 17.2 FebruaryThe service is intended for households and encourages sustainable consumption by reducing the need to buy new products.
