Adult Education Center

It is a joy and a privilege to study at your own community college.

Merikarvia-Siikainen Adult Education Centre is an active institution of two municipalities. We offer resources for lifelong self-development and learning. A comprehensive range of courses increases residents' well-being and opportunities for social contacts across municipal borders. The goal is to promote the skills, well-being and versatile development of all population and age groups in the area. Come and learn and have fun!

Courses are organized in several villages in addition to the city center. Course participants of different ages can, according to their own preferences, for example, do gymnastics, yoga, play the piano, work with wood, sing alone or in a choir, and study different languages.

The fall semester 2026 begins in week 38 and continues until week 48 (with a few exceptions). Courses will be published and the study guide will be published in late August/early September.

We are able to take local wishes into account in our offerings, depending on the resources available, for example by organizing first aid and security guard courses as needed. The college also offers basic art education at the Siikainen Handicraft School.

Particularly important target groups for us are children, seniors and special groups. It is also worth mentioning that Merikarviahas the world's longest continuously operating social media circle for special needs groups.
